Boston Burgers: Wahlburgers Reviewed
Burgers are hot, so burger-driven joints are popping up all over. In greater Boston, a relative new kid on the block (NKOTB if you will) is Wahlburgers (Hingham MA), masterminded by Dorchester's brothers Wahlberg. Is it just another celebrity vanity project or a legit burger? Check out the review and see where I stand.

New York BBQ: Back Forty West Reviewed
The site's 246th barbecue review is for Back Forty West (NYC), a SoHo eatery that's a spinoff of Back Forty and a replacement of Savoy. Unlike either of the other two, this one has a smoker, though it makes no claims of being a barbecue joint per se. With ribs, pulled pork, brisket and chicken and waffles on the menu, it was certainly worth a look, so I stopped in for lunch and posted this review. Check it out via the Reviews page, the link above or link to reviews using the red icons in the Joints directory.

NYC, Beyond BBQ: Pastrami at Katz's Deli
And now for something a little different: a look at the pastrami at Katz's Delicatessen (NYC), a 100-year-old institution.

Boston BBQ, Boston Burgers: Abigail's Reviewed
The site's 245th barbecue review is for Abigail's (Cambridge MA), a Kendall Square newcomer with a diversified menu that includes barbecue-influenced sandwiches and small plates, a barbecue brunch and a nifty burger among its offerings. Check out the review via the Reviews page, the link above or link to reviews using the red icons in the Joints directory.

Manchester BBQ: Insert (Your) Name Here
The building that housed the recently closed Famous Dave's (Manchester NH) is available for rental to a barbecue-based restaurant business. Property owner Bernardo Gasser contacted me to let PigTrip readers know that the 8300 square foot facility is available, outfitted with decor, furniture and all kitchen equipment. This also includes a Southern Pride 1400 smoker. Located in a high traffic area across the street from the Mall of New Hampshire and with equipment already in place, this is a turnkey opportunity for an established barbecue joint looking to expand or a fledgling operation looking to minimize startup costs.
For more information or to schedule a showing, contact Bernardo at (603) 345-3838.
Joints Directory Madness
Here's the latest batch of barbecue Joints directory activity, spanning five states. This time there are five new joints, four closings, one contraction and two new websites.
NEW JOINTS and/or NEW TO THE DIRECTORY
Dagwood's Kansas City BBQ (New London CT) is a new barbecue joint that's been open a couple of months. The narrow menu has the basic four (ribs, pork, brisket, chicken) and four sides. Thanks to Sledneck for the lead. www.dagwoodsbbq.com
151 Grill (Mahopac NY) is a Hudson Valley BBQ joint with the usual barbecue staples, plus burnt ends, smoked wings, sweet potato tots with fluff, fried ribs and pulled pork lasagna. Thanks to
David for the lead. www.151grill.com
Nichols Top of the Hill Grill & BBQ (New Sharon ME) is a northern Maine joint serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, though they only serve ribs Friday and Saturday dinners. www.topofthehillgrillonline.com
Up North BBQ (Chazy NY) is about as north as you can get without hitting Canada. They serve burgers, hot dogs and smoked fare that doesn't include brisket but does include "herb encrusted beef." Up North opens up for the season on March 13. Facebook
Screaming Boar Smokehouse (Littleton NH) is a new joint serving what they call "high performance BBQ." The menu includes the basic four, plus smoked meatloaf and prime rib on Saturdays. www.screamingboarsmokehouse.com
Canz (NYC) has closed its Manhattan outpost, leaving the mini chain with three locations (Queens and Long Island). Maybe it's the curse of the pulled pork sandwich, which is on the menu in the three surviving locations but never was in Manhattan. Coincidence? Perhaps not. www.canzaciti.com
When Pigs Fly BBQ Shack (Montauk NY) is now closed.
Dallas Jones Bar-B-Q (NYC) closed a little over a month ago.
Country Good BBQ (Fitchburg MA) is now closed. Thanks to John for the info.
New York BBQ: Blue Smoke Review Update
Here's an updated review for Blue Smoke (NYC), the barbecue joint that perhaps more than any other is responsible for the barbecue renaissance in New York City. Check out the review update via the Reviews page, the link above or link to reviews using the red icons in the Joints directory.
